The content of this online activity was presented originally at a live event. It is divided into two videos. Learners must view both videos in their entirety and complete a post-activity assessment and evaluation before they are eligible for continuing credit.

The North American Thrombosis Forum's (NATF’s) “2020 NATF Online Summit on Women’s Cardiovascular Health” focuses on the unique risks and challenges that women face regarding their cardiovascular health, with a particular focus on thrombotic illnesses such as myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, and venous thromboembolism (VTE). It also explores how biological changes across a woman’s lifespan can increase cardiovascular event risk and will further address best practices for managing this risk.

Target Audience:

Hospitalists and physicians, pharmacists, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and surgeons who specialize in cardiovascular medicine, endocrinology, family practice, internal medicine, gynecology, or obstetrics.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the session the participant will be able to:

  • List strategies for diagnosing and treating thrombophilia states in young women.
  • Recall the risks associated with thrombophilia and cardiac conditions in pregnant women and formulate a strategy for treating patients with those conditions.
  • Describe how stroke places a disproportionate cardiovascular burden onto women and formulate a strategy to prevent stroke.
  • Identify the burden of nonatherosclerotic coronary disease in women.
